Open Ph.D. Position
There is a Ph.D. position open in the area of physics-based modeling of wildland fires. Multiple interacting processes including pyrolysis, combustion, turbulence and radiation make wildland fires complex, yet interesting phenomena. Physics-based models utilize advanced computational tools such as various CFD techniques to describe the behavior of fires. The student to be recruited to this position will meet the following requirements.
- M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering with background in CFD
- Demonstrated skills in Matlab, Fortran or C programming
Preferred but not required:
- Background in combustion or turbulence
- Experience with parallel computations through MPI
Applicants should send their CV's to Dr. Babak Shotorban at firstname.lastname@example.org.
