Open Ph.D. Position
There is a Ph.D. position open in the area of physics-based modeling of wildland fires. Multiple interacting processes including pyrolysis, combustion, turbulence and radiation make wildland fires complex, yet interesting phenomena. Physics-based models utilize advanced computational tools such as various CFD techniques to describe the behavior of fires. The student to be recruited to this position will meet the following requirements.
Requirements:
M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering
Demonstrated skills in Matlab, Python, Fortran or C programming
Preferred but not required:
Background in CFD, combustion or turbulence
Experience with parallel computations
Applicants should send their CV's to Dr. Babak Shotorban at babak.shotorban@uah.edu.
